Among many of the many resources that I have been Using to learn German is this book. It was given to me by Kyle Finnegan as he finished his deployment in Germany. Before that, it had belonged to his family when they did their tour here. Thank you for trusting me with it. Some pages are getting read several times. It was published in 1980 when Germany was still split. it’s talks about technology that we just don’t use anymore. Some of it are used as a kid, some of it only went within the last decade. Some are considered collector or vintage. it’s a great reminder about how far we’ve come, and how far we might be going. I grew up watching sci-fi. I’m still waiting on replicators and transporters. But if you are one of the many scientists doing just that please don’t stop. You’ve gotten us this far and sometimes we just need a little reminding of how good we have it. I don’t need to send a telegram or even a post to speak to my mother, and I certainly don’t need to book a trunk call. I can send my friends photos instantly instead of having to wait for them to be printed and discovered that I had my finger over the lens.Politically Germany is united and apartheid is over. Two wonderful steps forward. Hopefully we will see our current world improve again. This is all a bit of a deep thought for a Sunday, but I’d really like you to think back to when you were a child and how much we have gained .#SundayThought #TechnologyAdvances #Peace #WeveComeSoFar

Democracy is constantly evolving and obtaining new tools. Want to be one of the first in the world to try a new form of participation that users described as "shockingly fun" and "full of potential"?🚀 For the citizens of Eindhoven, Dembrane and its consortium partners organise BrainWaves - a 2-hour city consultation on the future of our Eindhoven.💬 On a novel, digital, democratic platform, you will deliberate with fellow Eindhovenaren. The discussions take place in groups of 3 in multiple rounds of 10-20 minutes and will be guided by statements covering many topics. Do you have topics in mind that should be discussed? I’m happy to hear them via a comment on this post!🤖 An AI moderator moderates the discussions and ensures that any ideas you make together are recorded. This results in a manifesto, a summary of all participants' ideas, which becomes publicly available after the event such that your thoughts, feelings, and insights can be used to steer the future of our city!📆 Take part and talk about the future of Eindhoven on February 22 from 7pm to 9pm! You can join both in Dutch and English, there will be separate deliberation rooms for both languages. Together we are shaping the future our city. Find more information, and obtain your free ticket to the online event at: https://lnkd.in/eZWUjp3DBring your friends, and see you there! 💬🌱

The book 📚 which everyone should read."How we got to now".The author has explained well about the 6 innovations that made the modern world. In this illustrated history, Steven Johnson explores the history of innovation over centuries, tracing facets of modern life (refrigeration, clocks, and eyeglass lenses, to name a few) from their creation by hobbyists, amateurs, and entrepreneurs to their unintended historical consequences. Filled with surprising stories of accidental genius and brilliant mistakes—from the French publisher who invented the phonograph before Edison but forgot to include playback, to the Hollywood movie star who helped invent the technology behind Wi-Fi and Bluetooth—How We Got to Now investigates the secret history behind the everyday objects of contemporary life. In his trademark style, Johnson examines unexpected connections between seemingly unrelated fields: how the invention of air-conditioning enabled the largest migration of human beings in the history of the species—to cities such as Dubai or Phoenix, which would otherwise be virtually uninhabitable; how pendulum clocks helped trigger the industrial revolution; and how clean water made it possible to manufacture computer chips. Accompanied by a major six-part television series on PBS, How We Got to Now is the story of collaborative networks building the modern world, written in the provocative, informative, and engaging style that has earned Johnson fans around the globe. Thanks father in law , Prof. Vasant Sir for suggesting this book.Really informative and nice Book for science lovers 😊👍

Slow Pint to Publican: “I’ve taken the liberty of creating a summary of our assessment of epoch cycles and scenario analyses in terms of the past, the present, and the future:1.THE PAST - Lessons from our Multimillennial Epoch Cycle Analysisa. All epochs have the same elements and narrative, and almost all end with a violent reset into a new epoch.2.THE PRESENTa.There are two conflicts of concern: the first: an ongoing, reformational coup against liberal democracies by ‘soft’ totalitarianism advocates, and the second: the imminent possibility of a world-wide war.b.Soft totalitarianism is infecting modern democratic societies across the world, aided and abetted by the information manufacturing and suppression industry and the surveillance technologies of our Digitization Epoch.c.Citizens’ independence within, and influence on, liberal democracies will decrease - decisions will be made unilaterally by soft totalitarian governments - citizens will continue to have a vote but will have no influence whatsoever on policy decisions, legislation, or mandates.d.Regional and proxy wars will escalate.3.THE FUTUREa.Two super-alliances will emerge:i.‘Soft’ totalitarian democracies: USA, EU, UK, Canada, and Oceania; plus Japanii.Hegemonies: China, Russia, Iran, North Koreab. There is a high probability that a détente between the super-alliances will be negotiated to avoid an all-out world war.c.Nonaligned and on-the-fence nations and regions, e.g., India, Africa, South America, Southeast Asia, will be pursued by the super-alliances.d.In developed nations, technological innovations will lead to human hybrids and usher in The Age of Machines:i. Embodied AI-driven robotsii. Bio-machines that emulate the human brain.iii. Transhumans offering medically enabled longevity for the elites and the ultra-rich.”Publican: “Admirably terse - your sluggish pintliness is pointillism at its finest.“Now, let’s come full circle and talk about a different type of power that we all believe in - the power of music!”Tbc…

What is holding humanity back from better progress and greater prosperity?I wrote an article about the "ugly 13" bottlenecks that are preventing humanity from getting the most out of technology, having the biggest impact on society, and slowing down progress.I have actually been working on a book for over 2 years and this project has become massive as I have so many insights from governments, ministries, organizations around the world and more and the topic is super complex. Now that I have been invited to a special event, I have decided to take some of the information from my book research and make a "quite extensive" article around it. Hope you like it - its literally all my knowledge and insides I gathered distilled. What do you think? What did I miss?Link to article: https://lnkd.in/eNQ6VjJz

Benjamin, great and in-depth article! The inclusiveness is truly impressive. So, who can manage these processes on both micro and macro levels? Do people who can maintain a balance between stability and flexibility without getting swept up in hype emerge naturally, or should we focus on what we did right in the past to cultivate highly qualified individuals?

I am a supporter of the work from Amy Web and just recently I had the opportunity to listen to her in a conference - an extract to positively "kick our German butts" :)🚀 Amy Web on the German Market 2024: A Tale of Two FuturesAs we navigate through the ever-evolving landscape of strategic and future foresight, the question arises: where does Germany stand, and more importantly, where is Germany heading to?🔹 Germans, renowned for their precision and analytical prowess, often focus on the hurdles rather than the finish line. Yet, amidst the skepticism, lies a nation ripe with untapped potential. Did you know? Germany ranks second worldwide in AI research, boasts 39 Nobel Prize laureates, and is home to over 1,300 "hidden champions."🔹 With an investment of 3.31% in R&D, surpassing the EU's target of 3%, Germany is not just a participant but a driving force in the European Union's growth. But what lies ahead?I see two distinct paths unfurling before us:🚀 The Path of Opportunity: Imagine a Germany that leverages its robust infrastructure and historical risk-taking prowess. A Germany where the Mittelstand embraces change, bureaucratic processes are streamlined, and innovation leads the way. Imagine a Germany that becomes the global hub for energy creation and storage by 2030. This vision entails embracing dynamic economic growth, leading in ecological innovation, and fostering an inclusive society. But to achieve this, we need a cultural shift towards risk-taking and innovation.😰 The Path of Status Quo: Alternatively, we could continue on our current trajectory. This path might seem less daunting, but it's fraught with the risk of gradual decline. By 2035, we could see significant challenges in workforce innovation, digital transformation, and research capabilities, not to mention the environmental and societal shifts that would accompany a stagnating economy.🔹 The stakes are high, and the time to choose our path is now. What's the future (WTF) for Germany? Will we stride confidently towards opportunity, or will we cling to the familiar, however precarious it may be?🔹 As we stand at this crossroads, consider this: the next phase of AI development isn't just about processing existing data; it's about integrating sensory and visual information to truly understand and interact with the world. Germany has the potential to lead this wave, but only if we dare to harness our full capabilities.🔹 Let's not shy away from the complicated conversations. Instead, let's decide the future we want for Germany and, by extension, for Europe. What path will you advocate for? Are we ready to embrace change and innovation, or will we settle for incremental updates to a system that could otherwise thrive?Your thoughts? How do we ignite the spark of innovation and lead Germany towards a brighter, more dynamic future?#leadership #businessstrategy #haltung #transformation #purpose

Your coridially invited to meet author Luke Angstadt this Saturday at 2:00 at Mean Deans in Bradenton, 6059 26th St W,Bradenton,34207,USTOPIC: Artificial Intelligence and the BibleShort biography and summaryLuke Angstadt has been researching the nature of reality for over 20 years. He has written three short books in 2023 on the subject of artificial intelligence and the Bible. Their titles are Propaganda and the Will to Power, Resurrection and the New Creation, and God the Father and the Tree of Life. Together they compose the Finding the Tree of Life series. Since the mid 2010s when our smart phones really started taking off in leaps and bounds in their advancing technological capabilities, a concept called the Technological Singularity also started popping up everywhere on YouTube. What is the Technological Singularity? It’s something that computer scientists and mathematicians have been discussing since the first half of the 20th century. It means that over 75 years ago, people already realized that technology was advancing so fast that eventually it would eclipse human beings’ ability to maintain a symbiotic relationship with it. In other words, there would come a day when we couldn’t keep up with technology! What’s most interesting about this is that the Bible speaks of two singularities that are quite similar to the Technological Singularity. What’s even more interesting is that the fingerprints for what we are experiencing today with artificial intelligence and technology can be found all throughout history. The best part of this story is that there is a happy ending! We are moving into a New Age. Life will get easier and it will be better. Trust me, all of history is telling this story.Luke will break it down step by step and show you we have nothing to worry about if we remember to do a few simple things. The future is bright!https://lnkd.in/efztBnVm
