Just over a year ago, The School for Peace was like an oasis in the conflict-ridden #MiddleEast – promoting better understanding between Israelis and Palestinians, Jews and Muslims, young and old. 💬 After the Hamas terror attack, everything changed. ❓Was it likely that a young woman who grew up under communist rule would connect to Robert Bosch's ideas for a better world? Certainly not, says Antje Scheidler. When she was 15, she experienced the fall of the Berlin Wall and the regime in East Germany. We urgently need more and better responses to the dramatic impacts of #ClimateChange! 📈🌍🌊 This is particularly true when it comes to adapting to the #ClimateCrisis for people living in coastal areas, who already face existential threats from sea level rise and natural disasters.🗽 At this year's Climate Mobility Summit duringthe 🇺🇳 UN General Assembly in New York, one focus was on coastal regions. We engaged with a diverse group of stakeholders – from government delegates, tech-companies, civil society organizations and researchers to representatives of affected communities – to share concrete ideas on the mobility of people in a changing climate.These are key actions that we support and advocate forin terms of #ClimateAdaptation▪️Involvement of affected communities▪️More targeted local assistance to cities and communities▪️Ensuring dignified and voluntary relocation when places become uninhabitable▪️Investing in data analysis and forecasting💶🫱🏽🫲🏼 Another key, of course, is international support. However, the current financing system needs to evolve to respond better and faster to the challenges that communities face.
